March 28th of 2014 witnessed the 10th International Conference on Green & Energy-saving Buildings called by MOHURD (Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC) and co-hosted by a number of institutions including CSUS (Chinese Society of Urban Studies). The conference was held at Beijing International Convention Center, where a new tech and product expo was simultaneously staged. Mr. Qiu Baoxing, Vice Minister of MOHURD and Chief Director of CSUS, presided over the opening ceremony. The conference accommodated more than 3,000 national and international delegates.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Qiu Baoxing gave a retrospect of all previous conferences, and Mu Degui, Deputy Governer of Shaanxi Province, Pan Keli, Commercial Envoy of Canadian Embassy to China, and Lv Ruifeng, Standing Vice mayor of Shenzhen, respectively made speeches. Etienne Crepon, Director of Ministry of Habitation, Urbanization and Paysage, Jane Henley, CEO of World Green Building Council and Feng Lun, Chairman of Board of Directors of Jilin Wantong Pharmacy Group Corp., also delivered lectures.

This conference themed “Popularize Green Building and Promoting Energy Saving” lasted 3 days, comprised o f two sessions, the symposium and the exposition. There were a general forum and 31 sub forums for the symposium.

On the general forum, Mr. Qiu Baoxing, gave a remarkable report on “Assembled House, a Shortcut for Popularizing Green Building”. 5 national and international experts, including Jiang Yi, Professor of Tsinghua University and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, made keynote addresses.

On the 31 sub-forums, experts from home and abroad exchanged the latest science and tech achievements, developing trend, successful cases, discussed tech standards, policies and measures, appraisal system and testing marks and shared their working experience concerning green buildings and building energy saving.

The concurrent New Tech & Products Expo displayed new national and international tech achievements and applications with regard to green and energy-saving buildings.

The conference got support and assistance from relevant agencies of US, Germany, UK, France, Singapore, Denmark and Canada which have full-fledged building energy-saving system, advanced technological measures and scientific design concept.
